Report highlights professional golfers vs. amateur players and how they perform off the tee
EDINBURGH, Scotland – Shot Scope, the golf industry-leader in advanced GPS, rangefinder and shot tracking technology, has published a data insights report analyzing tee shots by female professional golfers vs. amateur players and how they perform off the tee.
The new data insights report, which comes on the heels of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and as the golf industry celebrates June as Women’s Golf Month, is the first in a series of data-driven golf performance analysis reports that will be featured at the Troon Game Performance HUB, and developed by Shot Scope as the Official Data Partner of Troon.
The women’s golf tee shots insights report, which consists of data compiled from Shot Scope’s global database of millions of on course shots recorded annually, compares driver distance between amateur golfers and professional players.
The report provides detailed context and comparisons as to how LPGA players navigate their way off the tee box compared to the average woman amateur. For example, the longest driver on the LPGA Tour averages 278 yards vs. a 1-5 handicap amateur average of 235 yards.
Further, looking at pure distance the report shows that even the shortest player off the tee on the LPGA Tour is equal to some of the longest amateur female golfers. The report also analyzes Fairways in Regulation, where the leading LPGA player is 88% vs a 1-5 handicap amateur at 54%. All LPGA stats included were at the time of publication.
“This insights report goes in depth, not just comparing driving distance between pros and amateurs, but the strategy approach to choosing a driver vs. 3-wood or iron off the tee, among other data points,” said Gavin Dear, Chief Operating Officer, Shot Scope. “There is a world of information and insight that golfers can obtain by analyzing Shot Scope data.
“Today, we track thousands of shots everyday around the world from millions of golfers of all playing levels. This data is then built into our insights reports and provided for free through destinations like the Troon Game Performance HUB.”
In May, the Troon Partners Network, a division of Troon, the leader in providing golf and club-related hospitality services, announced Shot Scope as the “Exclusive Data Partner” of the new Troon Game Performance HUB.
As part of the HUB experience, Troon connects golfers around the world with on course performance tracking insights from Shot Scope that capture and analyze shot data from tee-to-green, providing access to over 100 statistics, with detailed information on every shot taken during a round.
These game changing statistics are based on years of amateur golf history and more than 350 million shots recorded in the Shot Scope database by golfers who utilize the Company’s rangefinders and GPS golf watches.
Through the HUB, Troon golfers can gain valuable insights, as well as access factual articles and videos on how to improve their game in specific shot making categories, including tee shots, short game, putting, approach shots, bunker play, etc.
