Celebration features ribbon-cutting ceremony and new partnership with merging vets and players (MVP) for Salute to Service Golf Invitational and Charity Classic
LAKEWAY, Texas – The Hills Country Club is excited to announce the grand reopening of its Live Oak Golf Course, marking another milestone in a multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation designed to elevate the club’s member experience.
This renovation project, which began four years ago, was driven by a vision to transform the Live Oak golf course to meet the highest standards. The renovation included laser leveling of all tees and the introduction of TifTuf Bermuda turf to regrass the areas around the greens, tying into the new TifTuf fairways that were completed in recent years.
]Additionally, the practice putting green was updated and expanded from 5,000 to 8,500 square feet and refitted with championship Bermuda grass.
Enhancements to Live Oak also extend to Smoked at The Oak, where members can now enjoy a 12.5-foot multi-TV viewing wall for an immersive game-watching experience. The long term vision for Smoked at The Oak is to become the premier viewing venue in Lakeway for all sports events.
With the addition of the media wall, Smoked at The Oak has started a new Monday Night entertainment series, Lakeway Live! Monday nights are now more memorable at Live Oak with a Monday Skins game, live music, football viewing, BBQ and ice-cold beverages.
“We are thrilled to unveil this incredible transformation of Live Oak,” said John Woodeshick, General Manager of The Hills Country Club. “This renovation project is far from over. The Hills Country Club will continue to push forward, creating an even higher level of experience for our members.
“Our vision has always been to provide a space that brings our members together for fun, family and community, and these renovations are another step in our ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of our members, both on and off the course.”
In addition to the grand reopening, The Hills Country Club is proud to announce its partnership with Merging Vets and Players (MVP), the selected benefactor of the Salute to Service Golf Invitational and Charity Classic, which will kick off a week of remembrance leading up to Veterans Day.
The event will take place on Nov. 4 at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Hills Country Club. MVP was co-founded by NFL Insider Jay Glazer and former University of Texas football player and Green Beret Nate Boyer and supports veterans and former athletes by helping them find their “new team” after their time in uniform, providing tools for a healthy transition into civilian life.
Proceeds from the event will benefit MVP’s mission to end Veteran and Athlete suicide, as well as the Invited Foundation’s Employee Care Program, which assists employees during times of need.
Nate Boyer, a guest speaker at the event, shared his gratitude for the partnership, “MVP is honored to have The Hills Country Club support our mission to help veterans and athletes. This community understands the importance of lifting each other up, especially when some of the toughest battles begin after the uniform comes off. Together, we’re making a difference and ensuring that no one fights alone.”
Thomas Kilgore, former West Point Graduate and the Mayor of Lakeway, also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, “The City of Lakeway is proud to support MVP and the Invited Foundation in this special event. It’s crucial that our community comes together to give back to the brave men, women and families who have served our country. The support offered through this event will help ensure that our heroes have a strong community ready to lift them up after their service.”
