In partnership with Perfect Golf Event, it will be the first women’s professional golf tournament in St. Louis since 2001
WELDON SPRING, Missouri – The St. Louis Women’s Championship golf tournament, a new, official ANNIKA Women’s All-Pro Tour event, will debut in June 2025 at Whitmoor Country Club, tournament officials announced recently.
The June 18-22 event in suburban St. Louis will be the first women’s professional tournament in St. Louis since 2001 and is being coordinated in partnership with Perfect Golf Event.
Sorenstam, age 54 and a 2003 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, totaled more than 90 worldwide victories, including 72 on the LPGA and 10 major championship titles. Her wins included four victories in eight starts at the St. Louis-area LPGA event, the Michelob Light Classic – 1995, 1997, 1998 and 1999, all at Forest Hills Country Club in Chesterfield, Missouri, just 15 miles from Whitmoor Country Club, the site of the 2025 tournament. Whitmoor CC is a 36-hole facility located in Weldon Spring, Mo., approximately 20 miles west of St. Louis Lambert International Airport and 30 miles from downtown St. Louis.
“I have good memories of playing in St. Louis,” Sorenstam said. “We believe it is an excellent opportunity for the ANNIKA Women’s All-Pro Tour to promote women’s golf in the region. At the same time, we give back to the community by supporting several non-profits who will benefit from the event.”
The WAPT has been infused with energy over the past year by Sorenstam’s involvement in developing a more robust feeder system into the upper echelons of professional golf and with a goal to provide mentoring, a highly competitive tournament setting and more opportunities to reach the next level.
Tournaments run from April to August, with each of the events offering two Epson Tour tournament exemptions to the top two finishers and further exemptions into that season’s LPGA Qualifying School.
In July 2023, Sörenstam and the WAPT announced a five-year strategic alliance that began in 2024 in which the Women’s All-Pro Tour would become the ANNIKA Women’s All-Pro Tour via a partnership with the Epson Tour, the women’s professional game’s tour that leads directly into the LPGA.
The ANNIKA Women’s All-Pro Tour conducts 72-hole championships with a full week of activities including parties, clinics, pro-ams and more. Tournaments are held predominantly in the Southwestern and Midwestern United States.
“We are excited to bring women’s professional golf back to St. Louis,” said Paul Courter, the St. Louis Women’s Championship Tournament Director and the Chief Operating Officer for Perfect Golf Event. “It is a great opportunity to create enthusiasm locally for women’s golf at all levels. The 2025 event will support several local non-profits: Our Lady’s Inn, The BackStoppers and The PGA of America Gateway REACH Foundation.
“As the leading platform for golf event management, Perfect Golf Event is proud to organize the St. Louis Women’s Championship in our exciting first venture into professional women’s golf. Perfect Golf Event has organized thousands of events and helped raise millions of dollars for fantastic causes, and the St. Louis Women’s Championship has a similar goal.
“Whitmoor Country Club is the perfect venue for the event. It is an excellent facility with a very supportive group of members.”
The first event is scheduled to begin with a pro-am on Wednesday, June 18 where each team will play with an ANNIKA Tour member. The 72-hole competition begins on Thursday, June 19 and concludes on Sunday, June 22. A field of 132 players is slated to participate, with a 36-hole cut after Friday’s second round. The purse is estimated to be $85,000 for the event at the 36-year-old Whitmoor course.
