DALLAS — Meadowlark Golf Club, an historic daily-fee facility a few miles from the Pacific Ocean in the heart of Huntington Beach, California, kicks off its Centennial celebration in July with a full slate of community-centric golf, culinary, and music events.
Founded in 1922, owned by the City of Huntington Beach, and managed by Arcis Golf, Meadowlark’s centerpiece is a classic golf course designed by William P. Bell, who also designed or co-designed Riviera, Bel-Air, Stanford University, and many other courses in the western U.S.
The Club also features upscale amenities and superlative guest service, earning it regular recognition as one of Southern California’s favorite daily-fee properties.
The par-70, 5,609-yard course is a prime example of old-style architecture in which the terrain is left completely natural. Large stands of mature trees frame gently rolling fairways and undulating greens, picturesque water features, strategically placed bunkering, and indigenous flora and fauna.
The club also features an expansive golf practice facility open to the public with a 35-station, night-lit driving range and short game area. A young Tiger Woods, who grew up in the area, practiced at Meadowlark during his youth.
“Meadowlark Golf Club is all about serving its community and delivering golf and experiences for all to access and enjoy,” said Blake Walker, Founder and CEO of Arcis Golf, which assumed management of the club eight years ago. “It boasts a rich history, outstanding course design pedigree, and has long been a popular gathering and practice spot for the region’s golfers.”
The Centennial Celebration Shotgun will kick off on July 1 with a tournament sponsored by Srixon Golf, featuring Riip Beer Company, Dueling Ducks Brewing Company, Chapman Crafted, and other local breweries, on-course contests, a robust tournament package (cooler, golf balls, water bottle, tees, and towel) and over $1,500 in prizes. A portion of each entry fee will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington Valley.
“This is a major milestone for Meadowlark,” said General Manager Derek Uyesaka. “My team is committed to ensure its memorable for all of our guests and we look forward keeping the celebration going throughout the remainder of 2022.”
Uyesaka noted that the kick-off event and all others through the celebration year will include charitable components to support deserving local causes, a philosophy that aligns with Arcis Golf’s core philanthropic values.
Executive Chef Rachelle Le, whose signature dishes and distinctive cocktails are featured daily in the Club’s Lark Ness Café, has been menu planning for the full line-up of events, which also includes a Friday night concert series, 100 Beers of Orange County Beerfest (August 27), Cien Años de Meadowlark, in association with sponsor Nosotros Tequila in September, and a Roaring 20s-themed Halloween event in October.
