PALOS VERDES ESTATES, California – The LPGA Tour and Outlyr announced recently that Palos Verdes Golf Club in Los Angeles will host the 2023 DIO Implant LA Open, taking place March 27-April 2.
The championship will feature a field of 144 of the world’s top professional golfers competing for a share of an elevated $1.75 million purse, a $250,000 increase from 2022.
“We are thrilled to announce that the DIO Implant LA Open will return to the LPGA schedule and will be played at one of the Tour’s most popular golf courses, Palos Verdes Golf Club. Overlooking the beautiful Santa Monica Bay, Palos Verdes Golf Club provides a first-rate setting and environment for our players to reach their peak performance,” said Mollie Marcoux Samaan, LPGA Commissioner.
“Together with our partner DIO Implant and our longtime international broadcast partner JTBC, we look forward to offering players, fans and the local community with a world-class golf experience that will inspire.
“We are excited to host the DIO Implant LA Open once again this year with the LPGA Tour,” said Jincheol Kim, Founder and Chairman of DIO Implant. “We are eager to see the LPGA players and their performance at the new golf course.”
“We are honored to host the LPGA Tour for the 2023 DIO Implant LA Open,” said David Klein, President of Palos Verdes Golf Club. “Our membership is excited to welcome back many familiar faces who competed here at the Palos Verdes Championship last year and during their collegiate careers. We look forward to working with the LPGA Tour, DIO Implant, JTBC and Outlyr to conduct a first-class event in 2023.”
The DIO Implant LA Open made its debut in 2018, marking the LPGA Tour’s return to Los Angeles in more than a decade. In 2022, Japanese star Nasa Hataoka captured her sixth LPGA Tour win at -15, taking a five-stroke victory over Australian Hannah Green. Brooke Henderson (2021), Minjee Lee (2019) and Moriya Jutanugarn (2018) also hold DIO Implant LA Open titles.
Palos Verdes Golf Club, often referred to as the “hidden gem” in Southern California, has a rich history hosting women’s golf events. Palos Verdes hosted the Palos Verdes Championship presented by Bank of America on the LPGA Tour in 2022, with Marina Alex capturing her first LPGA Tour win since 2018 at 10-under-par.
Palos Verdes also has hosted the Northrop Grumman (now the Therese Hession) Regional Challenge women’s collegiate championship for the past 26 years. Past individual winners include Carlota Ciganda, Natalie Gulbis, Brittany Lang, Bronte Law, Andrea Lee, Leona Maguire, Lorena Ochoa and Annie Park.
Tournament officials will be announcing in the coming months additional information on the DIO Implant LA Open, including volunteer opportunities and tickets. The DIO Implant LA Open is operated by Outlyr, a global event management, sponsorship consulting and activation agency.
