Fred Couples Signature Design sits atop high terraces above Sea of Cortez
IRVINE, Cal. (Jan. 14, 2019) – Todd Eckenrode-Origins Golf Design is proud to announce the recent opening of the golf course at Twin Dolphin Golf Club. Todd Eckenrode-Origins Golf Design was the golf course architect of record, working with Fred Couples, on the first Fred Couples Signature Golf Course in the region.
Set atop high terraces overlooking one of the most beautiful stretches of the Sea of Cortez coastline, the par 72, 7,156-yard golf course is interwoven amongst the dramatic, rugged arroyos, beautiful native vegetation and dramatic rock formations of the native terrain.
Absolutely stunning ocean views are showcased on nearly every hole, as backdrop to a classic and traditional styling of architecture. Rumpled fairways, naturally-styled bunkering, and short-cut fairway heights throughout, significantly add to the uniqueness of this world-class new course.
“Our routing focused on two aspects predominately, to maximize the incredible ocean views through orientation, and to best utilize the interest and strategic challenge of the native arroyos in as many varied ways as possible”, says Eckenrode. The golfer plays alongside, across, and even through the natural and diverse arroyos. The experience is ever-changing and no two holes look or play alike.
Couples played an integral role in the design of the course. “Fred added great value to the project. He really dove into the construction process early on, taking numerous trips and adding a different viewpoint and perspective to the design, particularly as it relates to approach shots and the visual aspects”, says Eckenrode.
“The spectacular setting and the uniquely artistic aesthetic of the golf course align to present one of the finest golf experiences in the world”, says Eckenrode.
Membership to Twin Dolphin Golf Club will be exclusively offered to residential owners within the Twin Dolphin community, including Maravilla Los Cabos and Montage Residences Los Cabos. Guests at Montage Los Cabos will also have access to play the course
