UK architecture firm Mackenzie & Ebert has broken ground on a new golf club in the Caribbean. Located at the 1,100-acre Moncayo luxury development along the eastern coast of Puerto Rico, the club will be the firm’s first development in the Caribbean and will serve the resident members and guests of Moncayo.

The golf course will be an 18-hole championship course covering 7,200 yards and housing six sets of tees per hole. Multiple holes will offer views of the Caribbean Sea and El Yunque Mountains and every hole is being designed to blend into the environment as seamlessly as possible.
A one-acre putting course called “El Yunquito” will accompany the course, as well as a 9-hole short course designed for families and those looking to improve their short game.
The property will also feature a golf performance center and practice facility with dedicated instruction and technology to enhance golfing skills. Manuel Relancio, PGA, will lead the golf operations and instruction.
“Designing our first course in the Caribbean has been an exciting challenge, one that allows us to blend renowned design with the natural beauty of Puerto Rico and the wonderful land at Moncayo as we grow our international footprint,” said Martin Ebert, co-founder of Mackenzie & Ebert.
“Our design seeks to respect and enhance the island’s natural landscape with a layout that challenges golfers while offering truly breathtaking 360-degree views of the ocean and mountains for a unique sense of its location.”
Shaping has been completed on the first four holes and construction is continuing with the practice grounds.
