WEST CALDWELL, NJ (Aug. 16, 2021) – TThe Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) recently announced that Tradeweb Markets Inc. has been named an official sponsor of the Cognizant Founders Cup, which will take place Oct. 4-10 at historic Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, NJ.
The 2021 Cognizant Founders Cup, which moves to New Jersey after 10 years in Arizona, offers a $3 million purse, making it the largest of any LPGA Tour event outside of the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship.
Tradeweb is a leading global operator of electronic marketplaces for institutional, wholesale and retail financial markets.
Lee Olesky, Tradeweb CEO and co-founder, commented, “The LPGA and its founders have been a driving force in elevating women’s representation in golf, while breaking through barriers and showcasing the promising opportunities for the next generation of female athletes. Tradeweb is a financial technology company that continues to break though barriers of its own and we support the LPGA in challenging the status quo and for empowering women.”
As an official sponsor of the 2021 Cognizant Founders Cup, Tradeweb will host a “Breakthrough Breakfast,” where VIP guests of Tradeweb will have an opportunity to sit in on an intimate fireside chat featuring LPGA players and pioneers. These speakers have been instrumental in the creation of one of the most successful women’s sports organizations in history and have helped to create new opportunities for women worldwide.
Through this program Tradeweb will serve as the Official Brand Ambassador Sponsor. This includes the introduction of Junior Brand Ambassadors to grow the game by allowing junior golfers to get a behind-the-scenes look at a world-class golf event. Brand Ambassadors will assist with all aspects of tournament operations, in both on-course and behind the scenes capacities.
Each year, nearly 800 Ambassadors dedicate their time, energy, and spirit to serve in critical positions such as marshaling, scoring, transportation, hospitality services and many other important jobs that make the event so special for both the players and spectators.
A Brand Ambassador is encouraged to serve as a champion of first impressions, promoting not only the players and their world-class golf skills, but the overall spectator experience of tournament week, the history of the event and the charitable beneficiaries thanks to the LPGA placing its footprint in Essex County, NJ.
“Through Tradeweb and their support of the Brand Ambassador program, we have nearly 800 story tellers to help spread the message of how 13 women overcame adversity to create what is now the longest running women’s professional sports organization,” said Tracy Hupko, Sales and Marketing Manager for the Cognizant Founders Cup.
The LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup joins a long list of prominent events to be held at Mountain Ridge Country Club, including the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship in 2012, the Metropolitan Golf Association Open Championship in 1985, 1996, 2000 and 2020; the MGA’s Ike Stroke-Play Championship in 2007; the New Jersey PGA Section Championship in 1962, 1990, 2007, 2009 and 2017, and the French American Challenge in 1997.
The Ross-designed and highly regarded course opened in 1931 and has varied little in 90 years. It is known for wide fairways and deceptive greens. A recent restoration has brought many of Ross’s characteristic run-off areas back to their original closely mowed state.
