PHOENIX – Junior Golf University is excited to welcome golf and lifestyle clothing brand johnnie-O as a new partner with JGU and its flagship program, the PING Junior Interclub.
Headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in the Midwest and on the East Coast, johnnie-O brings its founder’s vision of “West Coast Prep” to life. johnnie-O offers wide-ranging collections for men, women and boys to support active lifestyles, including modern-performance dress shirts, polos, mid-layers, shorts, pants, hoodies and accessories that feel at home on the golf course and beyond.
johnnie-O will be visible at all PJI tournaments and within its marketing materials, including the website alongside other supporters such as PING, ECCO, YETI, FlexFit, Bushnell, UST Mamiya, and The Thunderbirds.
“There’s a ‘casual cool’ factor to johnnie-O that crosses generations, being hip enough both for kids and their style-conscious parents, who also appreciate the premium quality and attention to detail,” said John Souza, Executive Director of the Junior Golf University.
“Support from established, highly popular and always-evolving brands like johnnie-O will help PJI provide opportunities for junior golfers who want to enjoy the camaraderie and friendships you form by competing on a team, which is great, especially if they want to go on to compete at the collegiate level.”
Matt Ferrer, Senior Vice President of Sales at johnnie-O, said, “We are thrilled to partner with the PING Junior Interclub alongside several leading golf and lifestyle brands. Junior golfers are the next generation of talent, tastemakers and trendsetters on and off the golf course. And more than anything they embody what we love so much about the game of golf, which is the opportunity to spend time doing what you love and building lifelong connections along the way.”
The PJI tournament series is managed by JGU, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Phoenix. The PJI provides junior golfers (boys and girls, ages 12-18) with team-based tournaments. Five-person teams are formed by private, public and resort-style golf courses.
Each team competes in PJI Divisional tournaments, one event hosted by each course within a Division. Top finishers from each Division advance to post-season play.
JGU provides online tournament management for PJI events and administrative support to PJI teams. In 2008, eight teams from the Phoenix area participated in the first season of the PJI. The program has become a regular part of junior golf programs throughout Arizona.
johnnie-O joins UST Mamiya, Bushnell, YETI, PING, ECCO, The Thunderbirds and FlexFit as a partner.
