SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – has named Troon “Management Company of the Year” for 2024 in the publication’s 25th annual ‘Excellence in Achievement’ awards – the 11th consecutive year Troon has received this distinction.
In addition, BoardRoom also recognized Troon Company RealFood Hospitality, Strategy & Design as the “Food Service Strategic Planning Company of the Year” for the third consecutive year.
The BoardRoom magazine “Excellence in Achievement” awards are the private club industry’s only awards recognizing the clubs’ business partners. BoardRoom magazine’s industry peers review and select outstanding suppliers and consultants, which represent various aspects of course and club operations.
Winners, each year, are selected for overall excellence in their respective fields, achievements, innovation, vision for future growth and continued impact on private club operations.
“Thank you to BoardRoom magazine and our industry peers for this tremendous honor and congratulations to our Troon associates around the world,” said Troon President and CEO Tim Schantz. “As a company we are wholly committed to continuously improving and advancing to help our clients succeed. This recognition by BoardRoom is a credit to the hard work and dedication of our 35,000-plus associates.”
2024 was a year of improvement and development across all of Troon – from facility and course enhancements at managed properties, to new corporate partnerships, acquisitions and investments, Troon continues to define excellence in golf and hospitality management.
The year began with Troon acquiring Eventive Sports, a Birmingham, Alabama-based sports marketing and event management company. The acquisition of Eventive Sports added expertise and resources in large event management, while strengthening Troon Events, the luxury travel experience and tournament division of Troon.
In March, Troon welcomed Silicon Valley entrepreneur Jeff Ma to lead Troon Digital, a team dedicated to leveraging technology to improve golf course operations and the golfer experience at Troon-managed facilities.
Throughout Troon’s portfolio of managed facilities, more than 100 underwent or are currently undergoing clubhouse, amenity or golf course improvement projects in 2024. Aligning with Troon’s commitment to provide comprehensive services to managed properties, Troon’s in-house experts across multiple disciplines – including design and development, agronomy, procurement, information technology, and operations – play a vital role in seeing these projects from brainstorm to completion.
Underscoring the importance of these services, in July the company announced the integration of its clubhouse design and development services under the umbrella of RealFood Hospitality, Strategy & Design (RFHSD). A Troon company since 2019 and originally founded in 1996, RFHSD is a premier hospitality strategy and design firm serving the global hospitality industry. By merging Troon’s interior design capabilities with RFHSD’s expertise in foodservice design, concept and brand development, and food and beverage operations, the combined group delivers holistic design and development solutions for various environments, including clubhouse, food & beverage, fitness & wellness, retail, and dynamic shared hospitality spaces.
In addition, this year Goslings, SKINS, Sensible Weather, Shot Scope and Rhone have joined the Troon Partners Network (TPN), a stable of companies and brands that partner with Troon.
Through TPN, Troon is a leader in providing first-class golf, lifestyle and hospitality marketing that centers on premier B-to-B and B-to-C experiences designed to engage customers and clients, while connecting directly with an unmatched global audience.
Born from Troon’s 30-plus years of golf and club industry excellence, TPN enables strategic partners to direct market to dedicated consumer audiences and optimize exposure and reach through a selection of assets, ranging from sponsorships to special events and wide-reaching digital vehicles that are custom designed to meet partner goals and objectives.
Troon Privé, the company’s private club operations division, continued to grow in 2024. Private clubs joining the Troon Privé portfolio over the last 12 months include: Sierra View Country Club in Roseville, California; Flagstaff Ranch in Flagstaff, Arizona; The University Club of Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Woodholme Country Club in Pikesville, Maryland; Valley Country Club in Centennial, Colorado; and Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club in Broussard, Louisiana.
Now with 900-plus locations in 45-plus states and 35-plus countries, Troon is the world’s largest golf and golf-related hospitality management company.
