2020 Aer Lingus College Football Classic to be played in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium

Thrilling NCAA college football will return to the Emerald Isle next year on Aug. 29 as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish clash against the U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen. This will mark the third meeting between Notre Dame and U.S. Naval Academy in Ireland. They will compete for the coveted Keough-Naughton Trophy named for dignitaries Donald Koeugh and Martin Naughton. Koeugh was the first inductee into the Irish American Hall of Fame. Naughton trailblazed Irish studies programs in the U.S.
Announced by Ireland’s Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, next year’s game is part of a five-game “American Football Series” estimated to bring in $250 million dollars to the Irish economy. Aviva Stadium is home to the Irish Rugby Football Union and Republic of Ireland’s national football team.
